There are no future plans from the Department of Home Affairs to decentralize some of their services i.e. Asylum Office, but the plan in place is to increase the number of immigrations officials for Richards Bay.  According to the SAPS statistics for one week, +- 15 illegal immigrants are detained in the cells waiting to be deported.  Various measures are in place from the Municipality to deal with the problem of illegal immigrants like increasing their manpower in their security division and sale of municipal owned land.
